Part 2
Krista trained every day
for years. So many years, she couldn't remember the number. She took
each new advancement in fitness and used it up. She had a personal
gym built in her basement and left it only when it didn't challenge
her anymore.

She practiced meditation,
but it rarely helped to clear her head of her anger. It did, however,
fine tune all her senses. Krista enjoyed the feeling of meditation.
It gave her the feeling of floating above everything and helped focus
her on her main goal.
In meditation she could
track the one she wanted. She often wondered if he knew.
She often sparred with
Vlad, who still believed her to be his student. In reality, Krista
let him win. He had only bested her the first time they fought. And
true to his old fashioned nature, he never questioned why she never
got better. She was just a women after all.One day she would have to take care of him, but for now he wasn't a threat. As long as he had control of his coven, it was easier to take them out one by one. A lone vampire is harder to find.
On occasion Krista visited
her old home town. It had become a vibrant place, filled with lovely
old Victorian homes. But the evil still lurked in the shadows here.
Most of
the vampires stalking this place now had grown lazy, their prey
easier to catch than ever. Cell phones had everyone's attention at
all times and it made hiding in plain sight easy. And no one believed
anymore, vampire attire was a fad, just some 'Gothic' kids playing
dress up.
A vampire battle in the middle of the park at midnight could be
explained away as drones and memories could be altered easily enough.
A vampire old enough and smart enough could learn to use their mind
as well as their body. Krista was such a vampire.
In the city Krista came
across other vampires with such skills. They would recognize her as a
threat and attack first. Public fights normally stuck to sparring
rules. If more than a handful of humans were around, the loser would
submit and move on. Krista always followed. She was on a mission to
rid the world of her kind, Monsters.
